NORTON STREET
ITALIAN FESTA

THE INNER WEST'S BIGGEST STREET FESTIVAL
Sunday 25 October from 10am

Join us on Sunday 25 October as we celebrate Leichhardt's biggest cultural calendar event - Norton Street Italian Festa!
With attendance growing each and every year, this year's event is set to be bigger and better than ever.

In 2026, Norton Street Italian Festa will be celebrating its 40th anniversary, with the first Festa event held on Norton Street in 1986. It was originally organised by priests at St Fiacres Church, Leichhardt whose aim was to emulate religious festivals of Italy. Today, Festa stands as one of the Inner West's, as well one Sydney's biggest cultural celebrations with a festival spanning the length of Norton Street from Marion Street all the way down to William Street.

Here at The Royal, we love being part of the Leichhardt community, and Festa is a calendar event that is very close to our hearts. We'll be packing out a section of Carlisle Street and a part of Norton Street with tables and chairs for that authentic al fresco vibe. We'll also have a pop-up outdoor tap bar & spritz bar, entertainment on the day as well as a pop-up deli by chef Remy Davis with a keen focus on a hot grill, great produce and big Mediterranean flavors that are made for eating outside with a cold drink in hand.

If you've got questions about the day or are interested in making a large group booking on the day, click the button below and get in touch with our team. We can't wait to celebrate Norton Street Italian Festa with our local 2040 community and beyond!

ABOUT FESTA

WHAT TO EXPECT AT FESTA

A BRIEF SUMMARY OF NORTON STREET ITALIAN FESTA

Leichhardt is affectionately known as 'Little Italy' in the Sydney Metropolitan area, so it stands to reason that Festa is one the great local celebrations of Italian culture! There are dozens of authentic Italian culinary vendors, from chefs to Nonnas and Nonnos, and attracts attendance of people from many different cultures. The event is heavily supported by the local Inner West community, is family friendly and completely free to attend.

THE ROYAL'S FESTA MENU

FOOD & DRINK SPECIALS

The Royal kitchen & bar are cooking up some special things for Festa this year. In addition to a Draught Tap Bar pouring authentic Italian beers, we'll also have a Spritz Bar serving up the summery, citrusy flavours of Italty. We're honoured to have chef Remy Davis man a pop-up deli for our food stall this year at Festa. Remy has built an impressive career across Sydney and some of Europe’s acclaimed kitchens, including time in London and at the world-renowned Elkano in Spain’s Basque Country. More recently, he’s featured at Vivid Sydney’s Fire Kitchen and multiple guest chef events across Sydney and London. See our menu below:

Beef Tagliata, salsa verde, parmesan, rocket
Pollo alla Diavola, roasted pepper, chilli, aioli
Porchetta, apple mostarda, salsa verde, crackling
Eggplant Parmigiana, tomato, mozzarella, basil

THE ROYAL'S ROLE

THE LOCAL PUB IN THE LOCAL FESTIVAL

Located in between Marion & William Street, and smack bang in the middle of Norton Street, The Royal has been a central location across Festa's rich cultural history that spans over 40 years. We happily open our doors to festival attendees, and get into the Italian spirit with our food and drink menus leaning more into a Mediterranean focus for the day. We also close down a section of Carlisle Street and pack it with tables and chairs to allow for more al fresco seating and dining at the event.
